LGBTQIA+ Support

Through our personalized advising, CEA CAPA takes steps to understand the needs of a diversity of student identities like the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to diversity and identity training, CEA CAPA leadership engage in continuous department level project work to identify and revise policies and practices using the appropriate Justice, Equity, Diversity or Inclusion lens as a frame to reduce bias and barriers that impact students, faculty, and staff. The CEA CAPA World Blog promotes stories and personal experiences from the perspectives of diverse student bloggers and vloggers.

Neurodivergent Support

CEA CAPA is willing and able to assist students with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. Students are requested to disclose disabilities through the application health forms as part of their application and in discussion with their application advisor or program manager. CEA CAPA Barcelona Internship

I did an internship in Barcelona, Spain through CEA CAPA and it was a great experience. I learned so much about work culture in Spain and also a ton of new skills for my career path. The CEA CAPA internship team was extremely helpful when finding a placement for me, they were there every step of the way and I ended up loving my placement. My boss was from Catalan, he spoke good english and he always let me try to practice my Spanish. It was very easy going and I enjoyed going all 3 days a week that I went. My boss and I collaborated really well too. I would definitely recommend doing an internship abroad with CEA CAPA, I will remember my time at my internship forever!

Pros
  • Experience another culture's work environment
  • Learn professional working skills
  • Immerse yourself into another culture
Cons
  • Commute to internship may be long
  • May do unexpected type of work

CEA was amazing

Thanks to CEA I had the best experience abroad in Barcelona. They did an amazing job placing me at an internship where I felt comfortable and motivated to learn. Since my major is Hospitality, I interned at a hotel called "Hesperia Presidente" where not only did I learned about the operational system but also about the Spanish work culture. CEA was always available for us and I never had a problem with anything during my summer abroad. The CEA in Barcelona is also one of the biggest offices, making it more staff accessible for students!

Pros
  • They place you at an internship of your liking
  • They provide good housing for you
  • They take you on trips
Cons
  • Office hours are only Monday to Friday, however they do have phone numbers available 24/7

I loved CEA Barcelona

This abroad experience was the best four months of my life. Although I did not do housing through CEA CAPA, I lived in an apartment near the school with some friends and walked to class every day. I had so much fun both in and outside of class in Barcelona, traveling with my friends on the weekend and going to class during the week. I took many communications classes that I thoroughly enjoyed at CEA CAPA, and I would recommend this program and the classes to anyone that is planning on going abroad.

Pros
  • Campus location
  • Teachers
  • Students
Cons
  • Attendance

CEA Barcelona Study Abroad Liberal Arts Program

Barcelona is an incredible city full of life. The teaching centre was in the best location, Plaça Catalunya that allowed us to go to shopping after class, go to the beach, walk along Passeig de Gracia, go to the Gothic Quarter. The nightlife and the atmosphere of this city is one of the best in Europe in my opinion. The CEA staff was also wonderful; they worked at the teaching centre and whenever I needed help, I would go to them. The resources provided were always helpful and they had an emergency line.

Pros
  • A city with so much life
  • Beautiful architecture

Barcelona CEA

Traveling to Barcelona with CEA is a great choice. This organization truly looks out for you and helps you settle into a new country. You will meet so many people, learn so many new things and really be living in Barcelona. The classes are interesting and you can pick what interests you. There is a variety of classes. I took an international marketing class and a social media class. It is an awesome experience. They also set up events to do activities around the city! For example, you can go on hikes, go to cooking classes and really meet the locals. The teachers and cea advisors are really there for you and make sure you are comfortable in such a new environment. CEA is a great choice!

My three week adventure in Barcelona

This was my first time over seas and I can truly say it has completely changed my perception of the world and has given me a better appreciation and perspective on my life. Studying abroad not only allows you to see the world, it also allows you to see yourself through a new lens. I learned that I love well seasoned food, like Barcelona's Paella for example is to die for! I also learned that I truly feel my best when I am exploring and doing new things. I fell in love with traveling and getting to learn about different cultures. I wish I could have stayed longer... One piece of advice I'll give that I wish I did in the very beginning of my trip was to maintain a open mind about everything. When it comes to doing something new or trying something new as long as it is safe say yes to it! You can only learn and grow from the experience.

What would you improve about this program?
It should be a month and there should be more opportunity to experience the culture rather then learn about it in classrooms and textbooks and going to touristy areas. There should be a day where students to get to experience what locals do in a day and what they do for fun.

Barcelona Internship

Summer of 2017 I interned in Barcelona, Spain. This was one of the best experiences I could have asked for. I really wanted to be immersed into a different culture; I have a Spanish minor so I really wanted to be in a Spanish-speaking environment. My main goals were to be a better Spanish speaker, be more confident in the business world, and gain knowledge of different cultures. After my two-month internship, I truly believe I reached all of my goals through my internship in Spain.

Not only that but I learned to be a better version of my self. This type of experience really pushed me to be a stronger, more independent version of who I am. I think that this experience, interning abroad, really gave me the confidence to believe that I can now conquer anything.

What would you improve about this program?
I think the best way this program can be improved would just to offer more locations. The internship abroad program is fairly new, so there are not a ton of different locations. I believe the more locations they offer, the more appeal it would have to other students.

CEA Internships are Worthwhile

CEA Study Abroad provided so much support and guidance when I first began the process of applying for the internship. The onsite staff were all so wonderful and friendly that it made me feel right at home. This program was very organized from the seminar to finding us the right internship placements.

This experience has changed me for the better and is something I would recommend for anyone to take advantage of! You will learn so much more about yourself, culture and the world.
