Amazing Experience with IVHQ

I had an amazing experience volunteering with IVHQ in the Delhi slum clinic. I was at the clinic for 2 weeks and wish that I had have planned to stay for longer. The slum clinic is a very hands on experience. The IVHQ team worked as a sort of triage to manage the high volume of people who visit for the doctor. We mainly delt with individuals who were low income and relied on the free clinic to manage CVD, diabetes, and chronic pain. We therefore conducted a lot of blood pressure and sugar checks. We also met a lot of people dealing with rashes and fungal infections during the hotter season. This experience also help us to understand what life is like for these individuals. I would highly recommend volunteering with IVHQ. There programs are well established in the community and ensure that volunteers are safe and feel welcome. They were also very flexibale and ensure that any dietary restrictions or other accommodations are met.

What would you improve about this program?
If there was more organization at the slum clinic the people who visited could have been much more effectively managed. Many of the people who go to the clinic are there weekly however the new volunteers are not informed of this or their history prior.

IVHQ India Health Volunteer

Overall, great experience. You really got to submerge in the culture. Wasn't the most organized when I got there, but definitely a unique once in a lifetime experience! Recommend if you're trying to travel and volunteer on a budget. Definitely affordable! Traveling on the weekends is amazing and they're very helpful with that in terms of tips to stay safe and best ways to get around. Great place to meet people from all over the world. # weeks was plenty of time for me. I am a nursing student and did the health project. It was amazing to see a completely different culture and how they practice medicine as well as getting exposure to different patient cases and learning from it all. This was definitely a great trip to remember as well as to grow and learn from.

What would you improve about this program?
better organization of the volunteer sites is needed

My dream trip

Without a doubt, the best experience of my life so far. Not only you have the opportunity to help children and families from vulnerable areas, but also you know people from all over the world who share that same energy as you. I could tell you my adventures, but why not experience yours? Volunteering is something that all people should do at least once in life because it teaches us very valuable things such as respect and the acceptance of multiculturalism.
The program offers you the opportunity to help and meet wonderful people and also travel to learn more about the country. for this simple reason I recommend it and I hope to repeat the experience in another country in the future.
Thank you India and IVHQ for all the unforgettable moments in my mind!

What would you improve about this program?
I would improve the activities that are done with the children in the school. I think it needs a bit more planning

Life changing adventures

My experience in India with IVHQ surpassed my highest expectations! The support we received all the way through the process and the staff in country were all extremely helpful and encouraging. The program itself was laden with challenges, as we expected when encountering a foreign country without language skills. But every difficulty was an opportunity to learn about other cultures, ourselves, and the beautiful people to be found in every corner of the globe.
I did slum teaching and was blown away by the students! There were so many surprises around every corner. The kids wanted to learn and be loved and encouraged which was very different from my experience teaching in the states. The people were all so warm and hospitable everywhere we went. Our teaching assignment ended early enough in the afternoons that we were able to hop the metro and explore most days and then take longer excursions on the weekends. The living arrangements at the hostel were as expected and the food was very good. Overall, I cannot recommended the experience higher! I’m already planning my next IVHQ adventure!!

What was your funniest moment?
The first morning on assignment was pouring rain (our host said he’s lived there for 17 years and had never encountered rain like that during the dry season)...... and we had to walk a bit to get to our placement. Gratefully we had raincoats.... not all the teachers had planned ahead. When we got to the school some of the teachers were soaked to the bone and all our shoes were trashed with mud. But the kids were so happy to see us and we had so much fun that we soon forgot the treacherous traveling. Shortly into the morning the power began flickering and the lights kept going on and off. The room was very dark and it threw us off a lot. But we started using our phone flashilights for light in order to keep teaching. By the end of the month we kept our phones close because we realized if it wasn’t rain making the power go off, it was the monkeys climbing on the lines... or any manner of other obstacle. But the phones worked great. And the one thing we learned that helped us the most was to have fun and go with the flow. The kids are used to challenges so if we didn’t let it bother us then they didn’t even notice. Flexibility, curiosity and creativity are the best things you can bring with you! Aside from a rain coat and phone...

The best decision of my life

I’m Johana, an 18-year-old from Peru. I had the opportunity to volunteer on the Teaching English program in India- Delhi as a solo traveller and was the best decision of my life! My experience was wonderful. I had the chance to meet incredible people from all over the world that showed me I wasn’t alone. We had lots of memories that I can’t even count with my fingers, and every one of those memories helped us grow and mature as people. Also, the staff was so lovely and dedicated, I never felt lost or afraid because they were always there to support me.
On the other hand, Teaching was the challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life but with the children’s constant smiles and desire to learn, it encouraged me to apply my creativity. I came to India to teach but I finished learning more from the people I met.
Thank you IVHQ for giving the chance to have a life changing experience.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Future travelers be prepared for EVERYTHING. India is the place where the unexpected is common.

Child Care Program

I am delighted to e my review for IVHQ Delhi, India. I found IVHQ India one of the best in all my comparison rates and among other volunteering programs I did before and I searched and experienced.

I feel happy writing my personal review about IVHQ India. I found IVHQ one of the most affordable platform and one of the best till now. The IVHQ team and its program at Delhi have been the best from the first day of my volunteering work till the end. The Food they provide is outstanding, the accommodation was very good, the facility was outstanding, and the community program there in IVHQ Delhi India is structured so well and professionally that one not only do his/her best volunteering work, but also the best experience he/she can get from. I am sometimes speechless to praise Mr. Ananta Kumar the Head of IVHQ Delhi India, Ms. Soumita Halder the kindest person, Mr. Pawan, Mr. Ragu the Cook, who are such a nice and kind team for all volunteers.

I wish everyone join IVHQ, specially IVHQ who wish to do volunteering work in India, I prefer they should choose IVHQ Delhi India since I heartily say the program and team there are second to none.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Some volunteers did not know how to use Uber and Delhi Metro. Herby, I prefer them to use the Delhi Metro which is the most affordable transport system in Delhi.

Delhi Slum Teaching

This was my first oversea volunteer trip and IVHQ exceeded my expectations. The pre-trip programme is laid out with every detail in mind, it's extremely helpful. While I was there I experienced things I couldn't even dream of and at all times IVHQ provided us with support. The add-on tour at the beginning of the programme was incredibly helpful for getting to know everyone, getting acquainted with the new unfamiliar country you're in and also getting to know the member of the IVHQ team. Overall it was a very professional programme that gave you a great mix of country experience and helping the locals. I would love to see them go further with how in depth the helping aspect of the programme could be. I'm constantly recommending IVHQ to my friend and others who ask me who they should volunteer through.

What would you improve about this program?
There isn't much I can fault with this programme. The location of the hostel could be in a more accessible area

IVHQ India

I had the most amazing time this summer on my volunteer trip to India with IVHQ. The organization is so well prepared to handle all of our needs and was available at a moments notice any time we needed them. I felt the online training and the support service from the program guides assisted us in being as prepared as we could have possibly been. All of the other volunteers were absolutely amazing and I am so grateful to say that I have made so many new friends across the globe. The experience was truly humbling and rewarding and I cannot thank IVHQ enough for providing us with these opportunities and making it as seamless and comforting as possible. I would highly recommend this organization who is thinking about volunteering overseas DO IT. It will change your life in the most amazing way possible. Thank you so much to IVHQ and the New Delhi Team! I will never forget you.

Questions & Answers

Nope! When I was in India, our orientation group had volunteers of various ages!

It all depends how long you are staying for, while volunteering you do get meals with the families you stay with but some may not like the food and want to eat out, generally India is one of the cheapest places you can visit, if you are purely just going to volunteer and don't intend doing any other activities which is doubtful in India then you won't need much at all, if you are the type to live...

I took a look and you can find the price breakdown for both programs in India below. Hope that helps!
