About Program

Volunteering Solutions provides a wide range of volunteering programs across 3 different cities in Thailand - Bangkok, Surin & Chiang Mai. And all the programs have been designed amazingly so that volunteers can not only be a part of meaningful work but also get to travel extensively while in the country. There's no doubt of the fact that Thailand is one of the most popular volunteering destinations of the world. Whether you wish to volunteer with little children in Bangkok or teach the monks in Chiang Mai or work at an elephant village in Surin - we have the best of all for you! You can also choose to be a part of the Thailand Summer Volunteering program or Thailand Special Voluntour - which accommodates the best of volunteering & traveling. Explore the pristine beaches of the country, dive into the turquoise water, binge on delicious Thai cuisine and make a difference while volunteering. Medical students and practitioners can also join medical volunteering or internships in Thailand.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here. Learn more about how Volunteering Solutions is promoting ethical volunteering.

Popular Programs

Volunteer Teaching in Thailand

As the name suggests, under the Teaching English Volunteer Program in Thailand volunteers are placed at different school setups across Chiang Mai to teach English. Volunteers must understand that the children at these schools come from less privileged families and the administration is not well equipped to handle the quality of their education.

Volunteer With Elephants in Thailand

Surin is said to be the “Elephant capital” of Thailand, and soon after arriving here volunteers would realize why. One of the most amazing things about Surin is its elephants. They are revered throughout Thailand and the Elephant Volunteering program is a unique opportunity, not only to get up close and personal with them but to live in a genuine Thai community and experience real rural Thai life first-hand.

Medical Volunteer Program in Thailand

Medical Internship in Thailand is an ideal way for medical and nursing students to learn about and participate in (depending on your skills) rural healthcare practices in Thailand. Throughout the placement, interns are supported by a member of the local Thai Health Authority and member of our in-country support team who will help with translations.

I fell in love with Thailand while traveling through Volunteering Solutions!

The entire trip helped me get the most of my short time in a wonderful country. Volunteering at the elephant camp in Surin is an experience like no other. I will probably never get to have such a real one to one connection with those magnificent animals ever again. No tourist gimmicks can compare. While caring for an elephant of your own by helping gather the food, feeding it, walking it, and bathing it in the river just down the road, you are fully immersed in the life of an elephant caretaker, or as they're called in Thailand, "Mahouts." The first time you ride your elephant into the river is such a surreal moment it won't even feel real at the time. I still look at pictures and can't believe I got the chance to do that!

What would you improve about this program?
Since we were so close to Cambodia while staying in Surin, a few of us wanted to visit Siem Reap for the weekend. While the guides had sent volunteers across the border before, they seemed very unorganized in telling us what we would need to prepare ourselves for. I think Thailand program itineraries should include a section on explaining the best way to safely travel to Siem Reap and visit the Angkor temples and it would be really great if it provided a check list of what to bring like a Visa photo and your departure card given to you in the Thailand airport.

Childrens' Home Project, Nimit Asia: Thailand

When I committed to volunteering abroad I knew that I would experience a life transforming journey. I didn't realize how much impact this experience had on me until I had some time to reflect and process it when I returned home. I am grateful.

What would you improve about this program?
During our assignment logistically we had to take a taxi to and from the children's center. The travel time usually was about 30-45 minutes from the volunteers' accommodations to the children center. I wished we had more time with the children.

Thailand and the elephants

I have loved the time I spent in Thailand! Those three weeks have changed my life. I feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of this program and to meet so many amazing people. We worked in an elephant camp, saw plenty of temples, went to countless markets, meet people from around Thailand, and worked with children who love to learn. I would definitely go through this program again just because of the staff. They were so supportive and knowledgeable about Thailand and we're always willing to do whatever it took to make us comfortable.

What would you improve about this program?
i would have loved if there had been a list of clothes that are recommended to be brought on the trip. It was surprising to us all that we had to wear short sleeves shirts and pants almost the whole trip because it is so warm I did not assume that would be the case. I recommended clothing list and some good things to be packed would be wonderful. Also, clarifying some of the scheduling events and making sure they line up with what happens during the trip. Otherwise, it was awesome!

thailand; the land of smiles

I've just spent the best 4 months of my life in Chiang Mai, Thailand volunteering in a Children's Home and one week at the elephant camp. Every after noon i would go in the mountains, where the children's gome was and spend a few hours hours with them. We did homeworks, we cooked, we played together, we were teaching each other the other one's langage. Basically we just had a blast and loved each other very much. Everyine is lovely and smilingt here and they made me feel like a part of this big and wonderful family.

What would you improve about this program?
Not a lot actually. Since everything is great. Its just not accessible to everyone who would l because of the cost.

Experience of a lifetime!!!

Extremely great program, lovely people and the most exciting 2 weeks of the entire year. I have volunteered in a ER (Takook health promoting hospital) clinic in Surin, Thailand during 15.08-30.08.2014 where I have achieved a certificate for completing a basic training -practising dressing wounds;injections and vaccinations within the local community. The experience was incredible as the healthcare team were extremely eager to train you and allow you to see many patients. Also the project coordinators were incredibly fun and full of ideas how to entertain us during our leisure time. The entire group of volunteers bonded very well, especially during nights out in Bangkok and the trip to the jungle - Khoa Yai National Park. One of the highlights was the trip to the elephant village where we got to ride the elephants and see a lovely elephants show.

An amazing experience

Really this summer has been one of the best I've had, above all been through Volunteering Solutions staff , who I wanted to thank you for the good work you do.
Thailand has been always a destination that has caught my attention, when I found the summer program to Thailand I thought , " This is certainly a fantastic opportunity for meet this country , the country's culture , the food , the people there , ... " I will not deny that I was afraid when I boarded the plane , I was completely alone at the time , but when I get there and I met the rest of my fellow travelers and the staff all that fear became joy.
A normal day in Thailand at the Elephant Village was like waking up in a dream , ride elephants, take them to the river , playing with the village children , nights talking and laughing with the rest of the group ... In Bangkok walking down Kaho San Road was the most bizarre I've seen insects for food vendors , hundreds of markets with a lot of variety of things, night bars where there were lots of partying , just incredible . To all adventurers to venture all the way into an experience like this , really recommend it . You will not forget it ever , I will not forget it . Thanks Volunteering Solutions.

Speechless

There aren't enough words to described the impact this experience can leave on a person; when I left Thailand, I was matured, humbled, and absolutely inspired. I never imagined myself wading into a river on the back of an elephant, climbing trees in a national park in Thailand, or simply sitting around playing cards and listening to stories in a little village, let alone with such incredibly diverse, amazing people. From the trip leaders to your peer volunteers, everyone is genuine, open-minded, and easy to get along with. I, honestly, could not have asked for a better group, and it is with ease that I say I have made life-long friends while on this program.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, Volunteering Solutions, for providing me with an unforgettable summer!

What would you improve about this program?
There were moments that felt slightly disorganized within the program, such as our arrival in Bangkok and finding the hostel, but I didn't feel that this compromised the overall quality of the experience.

Questions & Answers

For my particular program it was a mix! In Bangkok, meals weren't provided (BUT VERY CHEAP); in the elephant camp all of our meals were provided and they were delicious! During our second volunteer project, breakfast and lunch were provided, and on the island no meals were provided.

Yes, there are opportunities in Bangkok.

Yes, volunteers will get room and board.

Hi! All the places I stayed were included in the price. I believe the total amount I paid Volunteering Solutions was around $1000 (US), and another $1000 for a round-trip flight. Food is so cheap in Thailand. Someone could budget $10-$15 per week for food and be totally fine. Street food is around $2. I remember someone telling me I could buy a new outfit, a hot meal, and taxi cab ride all for $20...
