The best time of my life

I went to Ghana for 3weeks with IVHQ. It was honestly the best thing ever. When I arrived someone from the company picked us up and took us to the volunteering house. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly which made the experience 100 times better. I am planning to travel again next year with IVHQ. I have not only made a difference to someone life I have also improved my self confidence. The food was also very good. Staff were adapting to everyone likes and dislikes, so if you didn’t want a certain food she wouldn’t make it.

Pros
  • Meeting new people

100% would recommend IVHQ

I would 100% recommend IVHQ to anyone looking to have a completely unique and authentic volunteering experience. With so many options of countries and activities, there really is an opportunity for everyone. From the moment I signed up (for a 3 week volunteering in Ghana programme) I had support from IVHQ staff who were willing to help with any questions or worries I had. The preparation checklist and activities ensured I felt confident and ready before takeoff. As soon as I arrived in the country, I was picked up from the airport by IVHQ staff, who offer 24/7 support to volunteers. The staff in Ghana were amazing, and helped us with any queries we had. From food to accommodation to weekend activities (which the staff also help you organise) you are totally immersed in the local culture. There is honestly nothing bad about IVHQ, and I will definitely be looking to volunteer with them again in the future.

Pros
  • Made life-long friends

Had the best time in this program

This was a really unique experience. I am so happy I choose to participate in this program. Everything was very well organised from airport pick up to the drop off again. Working in the program is something I will never forget the things we did and impact we made will always stay with me. Next to that all our weekend trips were organised very well by the staff. The staff was always there for us and checking up on us. The ambiance of this program and the work we got to do made it an amazing time.

Ghana Childcare

Childcare in Ghana was a once in a lifetime experience.Traveling solo overseas can be scary but as soon as the IVHQ staff picked me up at the airport I felt welcomed, safe and happy with my decision. Doing childcare in the local village taught me so much about real, raw life and so much about the Ghanaian culture. I was there to teach the children things but I learned so much more from them. 4 weeks in Ghana with the most amazing staff and the greatest kids will be something I will cherish forever!

Pros
  • Helpful Staff
  • Great Food
  • Weekend Travels
Cons

Childcare Program in Ghana

My experience was amazing with IVHQ Ghana throughout the whole childcare program. I felt safe and comfortable during my whole stay. The staff (Benjamin, Edna, Victoria and TT) were amazing and made me feel like a part of their family. The kids were great, the food was amazing, the trips on the weekend were well planned and so much fun. Out of the many volunteering experiences I’ve had, this has to be the best and most organized one I’ve ever experienced. I felt at home and I’ve learned many new things that have impacted my life that I will bring with me back home. Thank you to everyone for such an amazing experience!

Volunteering with IVHQ on the Teaching Project in Ghana

In March I participated with IVHQ in the teaching project in Ghana. Everything about my experience there was great! The IVHQ staff that helped me prepare before my journey was very helpful and answered all my questions quickly. The IVHQ staff on the program itself was very kind, always there to help with anything and made us feel safe and well taken care of the whole time. They helped to plan and organize our weekend trips, prepared the best food for us and answered all the questions we had. The accommodation had everything we needed and immediately felt like home. The project itself was great! I spent most of my time in third grade teaching mostly maths and science and taking the kids through the exams they had the second week I was there. During their one week break I got to tutor some of the kids that came to school in their free time, which was really rewarding and lots of fun. The teachers and students are all very kind and they seem very grateful for everything all the volunteers do for them. They made my experience even more special! The three weeks I spent in Ghana definitely went by to fast and I can't wait to go back and experience more of this beautiful country! If you are still unsure whether you want to go or not, I can highly recommend going! It will definitely be a trip of a lifetime.

Pros
  • Making an impact by teaching children
  • Meet other volunteers and make friends from all over the world
  • Learn about the culture and wonderful people of Ghana

Staff members became friends and ensured we had everything we needed. Everyone in the community is so open and grateful and life there is easy and enjoyable.
