About Program
Come volunteer with us in Puerto Jiménez.
As a civilian scientist, come and support our team of local and international on-staff biologists and their ongoing research and scientific investigations in flora and fauna, birds, bats, snakes, frogs, mammals, etc.
Help with the rewilding project, nursery and sustainable garden, general sustainability projects at the research station, and lead workshops or activities at our community center to share conservation information with locals. We also have an ongoing roadkill study and snake rescue program.
Experience our Field Research Centers and Educational Centers Support
Participate in Research Projects, Sustainable Ecotourism, and Sustainable Tourism.
Do your part for the conservation of Costa Rica.

Program Impact
Osa Institute (formerly Hibiscus Travels) offers fields of interest for internships, service learning abroad, and group travel including: conservation, community service, empowerment, medical, animal welfare, and specialized projects.
Osa Institute (formerly Hibiscus travels) offers programs which include accommodations and meals, transportation, in-country support, and additional aspects upon request such as excursions, learning courses, and language immersion.
Popular Programs
Environmental education programs such as presentations at community centers, making of signs and rotulation, recycling, monitoring of indigenous species, habitat clean up, feeding and food prep, beach and river clean ups, and planting trees. There are no long term caged animals.
In this program you are sure to make a positive lasting impact on others. Volunteers may work in any of the following: teaching English or another skill set, activities Coordinator at After School Program, or working with Young Children and Babies at Government Run Welfare Day Care.
Participants have the opportunity to improve local community through: the local library, the community center, women’s empowerment, beach clean ups, planting trees, stray animal help, indigenous tribe cultural preservation, assist in all-inclusive accessibility beach, bottle cap ramp for wheelchair accessibility on beach, fixing up homes, schools, community areas, or public buildings- your coordinator will place you at the project that is in need of help at your time of arrival.
