About Program
A diverse three-week program with three different projects to participate in, in Tropical North Queensland.
During the first week, volunteers have the unique opportunity to work on the iconic Great Barrier Reef, assisting oceanographic organizations with research and surveys on the reef and undertaking beach cleanups.
During week two, volunteer work is based at the sea turtle rehabilitation center where volunteers will care for rescued sea turtles and assist in their rehabilitation. Prepare food, feed the sea turtles and clean turtle tanks. Use the afternoon free time (time-permitting) to snorkel with sea turtles in the wild on the Great Barrier Reef.
The last week is in the Tropical Wetland Reserve in the North West of Cairns where volunteers study and collect information on some of the endangered animals that call the wetland their home. In the wildlife rehabilitation center, volunteers care for the animals and prepare those that are ready for release back into the wild.
