Teacher through Impact teaching

I had the best experience with Impact Teaching. I have a few friends that are also with other agencies and struggle so much with clear communication and transparency. I do not have this problem with Impact teaching. I feel very lucky to have started with Impact teaching. Arnold really goes above and beyond with his work. I am from South African Cape Town and I moved to Wroclaw Poland end of Feb this year 2022. It has been a wild but fun rollercoaster and Aronal has been by my side giving great advice on what to do next. He understands what teachers need. I highly recommend Impact teaching.

Great first start

Impact Teaching is good with helping you find work and getting through the visa process. They also are good with helping you find places to make friends and find things to do in your city. Arnold was very supportive with helping me transition into Warsaw; following through on my documentation for my taxes, school, and further legalization of stay. On their Youtube, their are many helpful guides to assist potential teachers. I would strongly recommend this organization to anyone thinking about teaching in Poland!

Pros
  • Employment
  • Getting settled
  • Making friends

Teaching English in Poland

I have really enjoyed the Poland programme since I came to Warsaw in November 2021. I enjoy the school I work with and the students I teach, work are very helpful with resources and guidance. I really like living in Warsaw, it is a very well connected city with good places to go out and plenty to do, and Poland is also a very interesting country to travel around.

Impact teaching have been very helpful with providing support and creating a context in which I could share my ideas.

Furthermore, Warsaw is a great city to live in if you are interested in history, having studied history at undergraduate level I have really enjoyed this aspect of Warsaw and Poland.

Pros
  • Providing teaching experience with planning and delivery of lessons
  • Great context to learn about history in Warsaw
  • Great support around giving ideas and sharing my own ideas

Reliable, Sociable and Fun!

Having been with the program before to a summer camp in China, I was keen to stay with the company when I moved to teach in Poland.

Impact Teaching sorted out a safe (and legal!) way to get a lower tax rate by working with a local company in Poland, as well as getting the appropriate visa post-Brexit. Having the local company there also meant there was support on the ground (such as PESEL number, accommodation, bank account, etc.) as well as all the support from Impact Teaching with the visa etc.

Impact Teaching helped me secure a job at a school which is well-reviewed and has a good reputation, and before applying they reformatted my CV into the style which is preferred by Polish schools. The stress was taken out of the application process, and I had a chance to ask about the visa and practicalities of moving to Poland during the interview.

Perhaps most importantly, I became part of a network of teachers in Poland, which involved being part of groupchats, zoom calls and then actually spending nearly all of my time with them when I arrived in Warsaw! This was very important to me from a social point of view, but also meant that other teachers could suggest jobs for you that they don't have time for.

Overall, I wouldn't have made the move to Poland without the help of Impact Teaching - especially post-Brexit, the help with visas has been invaluable, as well as the social side where you can meet many likeminded teachers :) Being able to talk with previous teachers was also really helpful and answered any remaining questions I had.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Get really involved with everything that comes your way in Poland! Make sure to ask lots of questions to Impact Teaching as they will be able to help and can also direct you to people that have previously completed the program.
