TFT Vietnam

The support provided Jaemi was superb and the coordinators Will & Molly they literally helped a I and many others dream come true, whilst living and teaching in Vietnam who could imagine. From the first interview with Jaemi from TFT, he was extremely informative by providing all the relevant information I need about teaching and working in Hanoi or HCMC.

The timeline or deadline for having things done by 5-8 months prior to departure to Vietnam really helped put us the applicants in good steadfast before coming to Vietnam as it relieved a lot of the stressors of social mobility. Including the steps and help provided for doing a video and pre-selection of documents (e.g. TEFL, CV, Legal documents, Degree certification)

The information given during the webinar was very good as it gave you an insight on what to expect when coming to Vietnam. The accommodation and orientation week was very well organized as it as it provided justice and sufficient time to get the ground running in terms of meeting new friends, getting accommodation sorted out and becoming familiar with the new surroundings.

Amazing Support System!

The program offers great support from the TFT team and my fellow program teachers!! TFT promptly answers all questions and lays out the immigration and document process before departure. They also offer call check ins, a group Q&A zoom and set up a group chat so you don't feel alone as you arrive. Once you arrive they still check in with everyone, can introduce you to alumni and help organize small social events to help you feel at home. EXCELLENT SUPPORT for anyone experiencing such a big change. More than one TFT person is assigned to a region so there's always someone to help you out when needed, whether its just to talk or to address concerns.

Pros
  • Great pre-departure support
  • Consisten communication, group chat set up to meet people
  • Check-ins available whenever requested!
Cons
  • Expectations between individual schools and your third party employer do not always match

Vietnam

I decided to move to Vietnam from China with The Fewer things at the start of 2023 and I’ve never looked back.

Jaemi and the team have been super helpful, moving from China to Vietnam is a stressful experience but they helped me with every step along the way. From using a suitable agent to make sure my documents were in order, to advising me on the correct tefl course to complete. The whole process felt easy as ever.

If you are looking to travel abroad and teach, I definitely recommend TFT!

Pros
  • Adventure
  • Communication
  • Great pay for the cost of living

TFT Vietnam Review

Having taught abroad before in Thailand I knew I wanted to use an agency for moving to a new place as it was a bit of a headache when I first got to Thailand (without agency). TFT has been very supportive from start to finish in setting me up with everything I needed, I had full support with all of the document and visa stuff as well as being placed in a great public school here in Hanoi. I did not have any issues at all and I am very happy with the overall experience. Like any new place you got to there will be culture shock and settle in period, but you have to keep going through it, it is an amazing thing to do an I have a huge more amount of confidence than when I first started. 100% recommend TFT for teaching in Asia.

From Thailand to Vietnam

My first programme with The Fewer Things was with Thailand, had a great experience teaching and working there for a year!

After completing the Thailand programme I am now in final stages of the legalisation process to make a move again, this time to Hanoi in Vietnam! So far again endless amount of support and reassurance from the team by Jaemi and now the lovely new members Will and Molly and they’ve been more reassuring than ever, for this positive change to a new country I’ve never been to before with confidence and excitement!
I’m really excited to continue my dreams starting with new one in Vietnam, more adventures in Asia and further afield and teaching abroad in the new year.

Pros
  • Endless amounts of support
  • Reassurance
  • Good tips to save time and money

Amazing experience

What an experience!!! Like all things, there will be a few stressful moments but they are always exceeded by the highs. It’s also nice to have a travelling experience where you are left with a healthy bank account at the end rather than scraping your pennies together for your flight home. For someone who never really had a interest in teaching and only really joined for the money and travel I have been shocked by how rewarding and engaging the teaching can be and has become a highlight of my experience. A little tip if you are thinking of joining - Vietnamese companies can be a bit sucky with organisation at the start of the year so don’t feel overwhelmed if it’s all chaos at the start, is does settle down.

Pros
  • Make a lot of money
  • Safe environment
  • Incredible location
Cons
  • Lack of organisation in Vietnamese companies at the start.

Vietnam 2022

The Fewer Things made the whole process of moving to Vietnam stress free. Jaemi was so supportive. We were always given guidance when needed - from deciding on a city to legalising documents and booking flights. We knew what to expect at every step and I felt well prepared, both for the move and for working as an esl teacher for the first time. The social aspect of moving to HCMC wouldn’t have been the same without The Fewer things who introduced us to other applicants flying out together. I would highly recommend The Fewer Things to anyone wanting to teach in Vietnam.

Vietnam 2022

I have been in HCMC for 3 months now and have really been enjoying my experience. The city is very lovely and so much fun! and the teaching is also very enjoyable. I’ve had an amazing time and TFT has really helped to make this experience be as stress free as possible. They offer excellent support and step by step guidance throughout the whole process. It will make moving abroad so much easier, having their support along the way! I would definitely recommend them if your looking to teach abroad :)
