Thanks to Mike O. at Teaching Nomad

I found out about Teaching Nomad through a friend of mine, who had just signed up herself. When she first told me about the site, I was admittedly skeptical. Send in your information ONCE, apply to multiple schools, and never write a cover letter again?! It sounded too good to be true! In fact, I was half expecting there to be some sort of catch. But, as I sit here with the contract for my new job in front of me, I'm happy to report that Teaching Nomad is legit. I registered in the last week of February, and I had a job offer in the second week of March. Of course, if a service is free, you're the product, but in this instance, that's a good thing!

I'd specifically like to shout out my recruiter, Mike Ostrowski. He was an angel throughout our time together. Super helpful with any questions I had, sensitive to my concerns, and quick to communicate.

Overall, I had a great experience with Teaching Nomad. I highly recommend giving their service a try.

Review Of Recruitment Experience

I had a great recruitment experience with Teaching Nomad. There are a wide range of roles and locations on offer. I love that you are assigned a personal recruiter. I was blessed with Flavio as mine, who was great. He listened to what I wanted, he tried to find me what I wanted, and put me forfard, but was also realistic and knowledgeable about the different markets and gave me impartial advice during the process regarding contracts etc. This was a far better experience than most recritment websites and agencies.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Schools in China are heiracal working environments, not collaborative. You will be expected to follow their system. If you are happy to comply you will be fine.

Best experience with Teaching Nomad

I had the best experience with teaching Nomad my recruiting consultant was Jayne Donabie and she was superb. Not only committed to guide me through the process but she answered all of my questions and and direct me to find the best job for my circumstances. Most definitely Teach Nomad excels expectations both my husband and I have been with The Nomad for over 2 years.
I would recommend Jayne as she is absolutely amazing and caring. It makes such a difference having someone so reliable.

Great support system

First it's free 😁 and if that was not great enough, you are actually paired with a recruiter that you can video chat and email with. I myself worked with Flavio E. and he was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. Teaching overseas is a big venture to undertake, but his assistance allowed me to feel more at ease with the process.

I liked that personal touch because it was a good balance between having help available, but at the same time having the independence to look up schools on Teaching Nomad's user friendly website.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
To make sure to ask all the questions that arise, so that you make an informed decision.

Teaching Nomad in China

My experience in China has been interesting. I would advise that people do a bit of research first about China. I came to China in 2017 with a different company who didn't provide much support at all. Teaching Nomad is a very good way to gain employment in China. Initially I worked for a large English International School chain and whilst these schools have a very good marketing department that spins them as the best schools. I have enjoyed working for Chinese International schools more. The pay is transparent and other than the travel and housing package exactly the same. I work reasonable hours and have plenty of time to prep. This next appointment is through Teaching Nomad and Flavio Eslava is an extremely supportive recruiter. I am excited about this next journey.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I camped on the Great Wall of China. We had a camp fire and watched the sun set and rise. I was amazed that this was even possible but recommend it as a good adventure.

Teaching Nomad is the way to go!!!

I can't speak highly enough about Teaching Nomad and the staff! Moira was my point of contact, and she was the best....absolutely THE BEST! She found the perfect school/LC for me to start my career change, and I couldn't be happier about any of it. She made the process smooth...especially in the face of all the COVID setbacks...and made me feel that she REALLY cared for my future and shared in the joys.

On top of the help from Moira, I must say Jesse was also spot on with the help, not missing a beat.

This program and recruitment agency and the staff are the best...no question!

Teaching Nomad is the best recruitment agency

I would highly recommend Teaching Nomad if you are looking for a recruitment agency. You can trust me from experience that I say you are in good hands. You don’t need to worry when choosing them because they are with you step by step of the way. From me to whoever is reading this I say call off the search and choose Teaching Nomad.

What would you improve about this program?
I wouldn’t improve this program in any way. This program and recruitment agency is the best it can be.

Questions & Answers

At this time, many schools in China are hiring from overseas and feel confident they will be able to secure working visas for overseas hires. We would encourage you to begin getting your documents authenticated now so you are prepared for the visa application.

Hello Erik, most of the English teaching roles posted on our site require candidates from native English speaking countries. However we do have subject teacher positions for non-native speakers if they have experience teaching that subject. We also have TEFL course + job placement opportunities in many countries that don't require the candidates to be native speakers. You can learn more about...

Yes! A teaching degree is not required to teach abroad. In many cases experience and/or a TEFL certification is an adequate qualification. We place couples all the time!

In such a case we would recommend the individual to contact the authorities to report the assault. This would include local police as well as the consulate or Embassy of your country. Of course we would never work with a school or organization that allowed an assault to occur.
