About Program
Come and join our organisation, Khmer Ocean Life, in Cambodia to gain real-life experience with a marine conservation NGO!
As a marine wildlife conservation volunteer, you'll be participating in our land- and boat-based surveys, monitoring populations of Irrawaddy dolphins, Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins, and dugongs. We undertake community outreach by delivering educational talks on marine life at schools and disseminating information in communities. We are also trying to understand the extent of impacts and general knowledge of Cambodian marine life by conducting social science through questionnaires in fishing communities, so you will have the opportunity to engage in local Khmer culture and contribute to collaborations for sustainable environmental management strategies. Finally, an important aspect of any nonprofit work is also the non-field-based work, such as report writing and grant writing, and this will help you develop invaluable skills in scientific communication.
