Huge help in crazy year

Graduating in 2020 and trying to find a job felt like a disaster. My graduate program with a large financial firm was cancelled and hiring had ground to a halt. Luckily, City Internships were able to connect me with an equally impressive firm who I have secured a full-time position with after completing my internship.
I would have fallen far behind my peers without the experience gained through this program. I feel very thnakful that I was able to learn from the teama nd call on them for advice through the process and the internship itself.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would have spoken with the CI team even more. They taught me a lot and were a lot of help when preparing for interviews and with problems or concerns I had during my internship. I'm definitely going to keep in touch during my early career

I haven't stopped talking about this program!

My friends and my younger sister will be going on this program next year because I can't recommend it enough! I had an amazing time interning in New York, made so many friends and was even offered a full-time job by my company (unfortunately I had to return to university). The staff were great with me and really helped the transition to New York. I can't wait to return to the Big Apple!
I interned with a marketing company in a really cool office. I was able to meet lots of clients, go to meetings, work on creative projects and overall learn a lot from the senior team.
The CI events were an added bonus where I could meet up with friends and explore the city some more. We also had one on one sessions for things like resume building and interview preparation

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
New York is a huge, scary city but from day one I felt very comfortable in the CI accommodation. The staff met me and my parents on my first day and were really helpful. Then we had our Welcome Orientation on the second day and after I met everyone else on the program I was completely at home in the city!

Awesome internship in New York

I was really struggling to find a position after graduating from college but City Internships helped me out so much. They set up interviews for me and I had a few companies to choose from in the end. I chose a medium sized company and had a great experience which resulted in a full-time job.
The summer internship was awesome. I learnt a lot, very quickly and met some great people. I have no doubt that it will help me moving forward in my career.
New York is a really fast-paced city but the staff at CI helped us settle in and were always there for us. The accommodation was pretty nice and an easy enough commute. I made good friends with my roommate and we explored the city a lot together.
I have a lot to thank CI for - keep helping students and graduates!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I was surprised at how cool my internship was to be honest. I was happy to get an offer but really didn't think that it would go so well. Other people on the program thought the same and it was definitely a nice surprise

Summer Program 2019

I loved my time on the summer program with City Internships! My internship experience has caught the eye of many employers in my city and helped me to land a lot more opportunities. I'm much better prepared for my career as a result of my placement and know what to expect for future jobs. It's been really beneficial to pick up international experience, and I feel far more employable thanks to the workshops and events during the program. It was my first time going abroad and I was nervous to be in a new and intimidating city. The City Internships staff was helpful when I had questions and were always available. They were great at giving advice on things to do and see when I had time away from my internship. The orientation and events were a great added bonus. I even got help with my resume and elevator pitch! It was a very informative and exciting summer. Everyone asks me about my time in London!

What would you improve about this program?
I was also lucky enough to make lots of friends - I just wish that I had stayed a little longer and gone travelling with them after the program as I know that a group went around Europe together. But I've stayed in touch and I can't wait for them to come and visit me next year.

Insightful Internship! Incredible Summer!

I joined City Internships with the intention to try something different and get international exposure. Everything about the program was helpful, from the internship experience to the social events! My experience in the program, especially the internship, will really help me in my career. Before the program, I was limited in my experience. The internship CI helped me acquire will definitely make my resume much more attractive to future employers. There are skills that you can only learn in a hands-on environment, like in an internship. But, don't just focus on your internship, explore ALL the opportunities that CI offers you and attend the seminars! I met many established professionals who could answer my questions. Overall, it was a well-rounded experience with resume workshops and career-orientated seminars!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Network! Relationships really do matter. Pay attention to networking sessions; networking is key! You must focus on relationship-building throughout your internship.

Amazing, professional experience, in a great city!

City Internships were able to match me with an awesome internship in London which far exceeded my expectations. The team were so helpful and the process was great for someone like me who isn't as confident going into interviews. They set-up all of the interviews, prepared me for them and then we went over feedback until I had found the company that was right for me.
The summer itself was great. I met lots of great people on the program, made tons of friends and did lots of travelling.
I couldn't make it to every CI event but the ones I went to such as the CV sessions and interview workshops were very helpful. ANd of course the social nights were great fun.
Overall I would recommend CI to anyone who is looking for internship experience in a helpful, fun, rewarding setting!

What would you improve about this program?
A guaranteed job at the end would be nice, but I realise that it's something you have to work for earn.
Maybe include flights for international students, but again I realise that it would be difficult

Surprisingly great

City Internships was great. I was struggling to find an internship, and I came across CI as a way to do two things, go abroad and get an internship. I wanted to work for a big bank but they presented some really different opportunities for me in like boutique style investment places, and I ended up taking one of them after doing the interview, and realizing how much I'd be exposed to in that type of place.

The program itself was pretty cool, the staff were really nice (heyup to Josh!) and the other interns were varied enough to find a friend basically anywhere. I like that I've come away with a network already, and it was overall a good value experience. I've already got a job interview with a company that I never believed I would get before going through the program, and that's a really nice surprise that the stuff they talk about when you're signing up, has come out to be true. To be honest I just wanted a summer away and do something good for my resume but it's worked out so much better than I expected.

What was your funniest moment?
The tower of london tour is really good! Utterly hilarious and while I guess it sounds a bit stuffy and old, it was well worth doing and a great suggestion from one of the CI teams to do on the weekend.

Global Explorer Program in London

From the beginning, City Internships matched me with the perfect company. I was able to learn from some of the best, leading professionals in my field, grow my contacts and gain valuable real-world knowledge. Through my internship, I was able to go to incredible events and meet other leading professionals in the field.

The program also included weekly networking and career seminar events, which were something I always looked forward to. Not only did I get to hear from professionals in a variety of fields, I also got the chance to mingle with the other interns on the Global Explorer Program at each event, which we didn't always have time to do during the week due to our busy work schedules. The weekly events also included a CV workshop, which is always a plus.

One of the highlights of the Global Explorer Program was the weekend excursion. The City Internships team took us to Brighton, a beach town in England. During the weekend trip, we were able to kayak, relax on the beach, and explore the beautiful city's sights.

One of the most reassuring parts of the Global Explorer Program was that each intern knew they could always count on the City Internships team for any necessary help or support. The team had official office hours and made sure we knew they were always available on their cell phone and email if we needed to talk.

Overall, I learned more than I imagined I ever would. I learned to use different means of transportation, when in the US I have become so accustomed to driving everywhere. I learned how to live in a different country, with roommates from around the world. I learned how to truly be independent and to live in the moment, something that I feel would be the perfect experience for current undergraduate students looking for a way to not only stand out from their peers but also have an incredible summer adventure.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
One major piece of advice for future travelers- just because your roommate can't go with you, nor one of the new friends you’ve made, doesn't mean you shouldn't go. I was doing an internship in a new country, in a major city, had made friends with the other interns from around the world, yet when it came time to me wanting to go see my favorite artist and no one could go with me, I decided I wouldn’t go. I was too afraid to go by myself, and at that point I had to remind myself that I had made it this far and that I was strong and independent, and guess what? I went to that concert, by myself and had a BLAST!
