About Program
The Leeuwin’s Youth Explorer Voyage program allows young people aged 14+ to experience a unique and challenging ocean adventure aboard a traditional 3-masted barquentine tall ship that will challenge and inspire them, while developing skills in communication, leadership and teamwork which can be applied in every aspect of their lives.
During the week-long voyage, participants take part in all sailing activities from taking the helm and navigating to setting and furling the sails, climbing the 33m main mast and standing watch through the night. No prior sailing experience is required, just a willingness to learn and a sense of adventure. Sail trainees may also be invited back as volunteer crew on future day sails and voyages, allowing them to keep in touch with their crewmates, further hone their skills and sail for free!
Voyages run from September until June with most sailing from Fremantle to Fremantle, although we also have voyages to Bunbury, Busselton and Monkey Mia.
