Beyond Academy

I had the best time in Barcelona with Beyond Academy! I had a great time with the people around me who were also in my program and I expect that the friendships I made abroad will stay with me forever as well as the wonderful memories. It was such an unforgettable experience I would do anything to be back. I also always very felt very safe knowing there was someone there who was always just a phone call away and was able to help me with any problems I had. Our accommodation was super inner city which was at times inconvenient but we did all have our own bedroom and bathroom, we additionally had a gym and rooftop pool, but I believe the best part was that I always felt safe having 24-hour security. I also really liked that there were coordinated events for us to explore the city. I know that if It was left to us to do I probably wouldn't have seen or learned as much as I did about the city.

Pros
  • Gaining work experience.
  • Being able to fully submerse yourself into a new culture.
  • Meeting new people from around the world.
Cons
  • Expensive but worth it.
  • Accommodation was a little outer city but it also had fantastic amenities that I wouldn't have been able to have inner city.

Beyond academy

This program has been the best experience of my life. The staff was very communicative and always made sure eveyone in the program was taken care of. The search for my internship was super easy and I’d definitely recommend this to anyone! This program is good for anyone wanting to mix the experience of traveling and work life in one situation. Not only was I able to find my path in my career but I was also able to explore a new place with new people. I think anyone who has even had a thought about working overseas this is the program for you!

Pros
  • Great space to stay
  • Events planned all the time
  • Great location

A valuable experience

The reason that I applied for this programme was to know whether I would be able to work in this country. And I saw the possibility.

English is not my first language, so I was always afraid of using it. However, during the programme, I had a lot of opportunities to practice and improve my English knowledge. Now I feel confident and ready to have meaningful relationships with other people using the language.

It was not only about the language; it was also good to learn the work culture in the UK. I was working for a marketing company, and it came to my mind that communication is very important. I saw many people giving feedback to each other relentlessly to get to the best result. It also helped me learn how to work as a team, and I believe this is something you wouldn't get to learn when you are a student and often just write essays stuck in your room all day long.

London is a multicultural city. It was such an opportunity for me to get used to various regional accents and experience many different cultures. You would get all sort of Indian, Korean, Chinese, English, and other types of foods, and surprisingly they are authentic. During the programme, I was also able to meet a lot of people from different countries. We had community events twice a week from Beyond Academy, and it was interesting enough for me to meet people from India, Nigeria, America, etc.

London has a lot of things to see and experience. Many attractions are located in Central London altogether, so it was easy for me to look around the area and visit them. Although the hustle and bustle of the city, there were always new things coming up whenever I entered in a different area, which kept me enjoyable and excited.

I would like to give thanks to the team of Beyond Academy for giving me such a valuable experience. I believe that people have to see and experience as much as possible, especially when they are young. Hope they keep up the good work.

Pros
  • You can easily get all different types of food from different countries
  • And meet many people from different cultures
Cons
  • Your accommodation might not be so close to your workplace
  • Sometimes you'd feel overwhelmed because of the busy area and crowded places in the city

Successful Internship with Beyond Academy

I did a Human Resource Internship organised by Beyond Academy. This company is a start up business to business on a small scale. I have gained real work exposure and experience for the first time in any work setting. I am lifted and content with this Internship, also so grateful to Beyond Academy. My team is supportive and helpful.
Thank you so much Beyond Academy for granting me a life changing experience and opportunity!
I was hesitant to take this internship since I would also be studying a certificate program at the same time. However it taught me time management and discilpine. I am ever ao grateful!

Pros
  • Training is on point
  • Supportive
  • Collaborative
Cons
  • Not always on schedule with meetings
  • Longer than I thought
  • Competitive

Dublin Summer Intern 2023

Beyond Academy made living in a different country for the first time easy! All of the nitty-gritty work was done by BA, which left me all my time and energy to do my internship and explore Ireland. This program took out a lot of the stress of moving to another country by finding our accommodation for us, reserving our accommodation, ordering a taxi to take us from the airport to our accommodation, scheduling fun things to do on weekends, and getting us bus passes that already had some money on them. The community coordinators were also a huge help in adjusting to living there, and the weekly dinners create a source of social support the second you land in the country!

Pros
  • Weekend trips
  • Weekly group dinners
  • Significantly less expensive than similar programs that I found
Cons
  • The housing was inconveniently far away from the city centre

Interview

What is your favorite travel memory?

Really hard to choose! I'd say there's two that stand out:

When I was 19, as part of a school trip, I got to trek the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and climbed Toubkal, the highest peak. It was incredible! The views were stunning and it felt like such an achievement to reach the summit.

My other memory is when I worked as an actor I got to fly out to LA on a job. It's a unique city - and seeing the Hollywood sign for the first time was quite something!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I’d say I have grown exponentially working for Beyond Academy! I have a very diverse professional background, and when I first started working for Beyond Academy I was looking for a role and a company where I could channel all my different skills and expertise. Beyond Academy has offered me this opportunity and allows me to continuously learn, develop and improve.

It's a fast-paced environment at Beyond Academy and a rapidly progressing company - it’s an exciting journey to be a part of!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I love speaking to our students; from their initial admissions interview with us, right through to connecting with them during their internship program - and meeting them in person if it's in London! The students on our programs come from such diverse backgrounds and industries, and of course are from all over the world.
As for my favourite stories from students, I’d say it's when we hear that their internship has gone so well that the company has offered them a fulltime job! It's so encouraging and hugely exciting to watch their career kick-start.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I’d say the Tokyo Immersive Program. I’ve never been to Japan and would love to visit. What I love about our programs is that you get to travel and have a proper adventure whilst gaining valuable work experience. To live in and explore an amazing city such as Tokyo and also supercharge my career at an awesome company - dream come true! Plus on the program you get to visit Mount Fuji and also make friends from all over the world!

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

What makes Beyond Academy unique is that we are all so passionate about what we do. We care! And we want the best for our interns. Also, although we are a global company and based throughout the world, we have such a strong team bond and sense of community.

I'd say I was especially proud of the team this summer during our London Immersive Program. Our community team really went the extra mile for everyone on the program and provided them with such an awesome experience.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

A great team! Having shared beliefs and a supportive, well-functioning team is fundamental. Of course everyone has their off-days, but building and maintaining good working relationships and having clear, honest communication really is key from a personal professional perspective, and also for the growth of the company. Understanding your colleagues as people and helping to elevate them in their role can be so important too.
